Selamat Hari Raya =)

Raya has left me exhausted.

On the first day of Raya, I went to Brisbane to see Akmal and Rina and upgrade my baggage allowance and get a new haircut. I didnt expect the moon sighting to be succesful hence the Brisbane trip, but Alhamdulillah nampak anak bulan so that means we celebrated first Raya at the same time with Brunei. I got my haircut at Togninis, it's quite cheap for students for $42 compared to other salons and they are hugely raved by many. My hairdresser was Michael and he did a pretty good job. What I like about the place was the locker to keep your stuff in and I love the shampoo and conditioner they used. And like in other salons, they offer free drinks too which I have always refused. Nantitah I'll ask for orange juice hehe. After that, we had torts and shish kebab for lunch. I love torts but for some reason, they werent as good as before. Mikin karit ia bagi the dips. Then we went to Myer. I told Akmal and Rina to refrain me from buying anything but in the end, I bought myself Salvatore Ferragamo - Incanto Dream perfume gift set. The SA looked pretty desperate to get me to buy anything and I kept telling her that "I'll think about it", which annoyed the hell out of her. I was thinking of getting either Incanto Dream and Vera Wang Princess but I got the Incanto Dream cos they smell like Pina Colada and she threw in an Escada handbag with the gift set.

On the second day of Raya, I met up with Isz and Hjh at Australia Fair to buy a few things for our Raya party, later that day. Then we got to Isz's place and the cooking began. Isz cooked mixed veggies with beef, Hjh cooked fried rice and crumbed fish and I made grilled chicken. It was so much funner cooking with others than alone. If alone ah, mana ku ada mood kan masak tu, I'd rather have Tv dinner or takeaaways. Hjh's friend, Feezal, came over as well and brought french fries and gazillionth pepsi cans (I've met him before at a party last year but could not remember a thing until I got home. Bad memory, I tell you). After all the cookings, we changed clothes to Baju Kurung and Cara Melayu. I made last minute cocktails with vanilla ice cream then the party kicked off. We ate while watching the movies. After that, we went to Feezal's apartment to hang out for a bit then went back to Isz's house. Isz made Air Cincau and Ben and Feezal's fried prawn crackers. Plus we had chocolate puddings too made by Sara. Sara Lee =P Anyway macam di Brunei rasanya beraya, but nada angpau =(

On the third day of Raya, no Raya-related event happened. I had to finish my Scientific Investigations assignment due the next day (Boo!)

On the fourth day of Raya, Hjh, Isz, Wan, Feezal and I went to Brisbane for Kak Moon's open house. Feezal dropped us at the far end of Elizabeth St so we had to walk across the city to Kak Moon's place wearing Baju Kurung and Cara Melayu. It felt awkward and weird being the centre of attention but I guess people were interested/curious in our traditional dress (lawa kali ah). We arrived at Kak Moon's place early so we helped around a bit, potong buah, wrapping the food, usai the table etc etc. Her apartment has the gorgeous view I've ever seen. Too bad I am acrophobic. Wan kept pretending he was jumping off the balcony to make me scream.. nanti ia! Anyway, Akmal and Rina were also there. It was probably the last time I'd see them this year. The open house was fun. There were about 20-30 people there and almost everyone was wearing their Baju Kurung and Cara Melayu. The food was good too. We had popia, different kind of nuts, kek batik, kek tapak kuda, chocolate cake, cheesecake, ayam kurma, satay daging, mee halus, prawns masak something, nenas masak something, rockmelon, watermelon and macam macam lagi. We balik awal cos it was late already and we still had to go to St Lucia to meet up with Feezal so he could drive us home. On the way home, Wan, Isz and Feezal engaged in a convo about ghosts. Urgh, my least fave topic. Thanks to them, I spent the night sleeping with my lights on.

So thats how I spent the first 4 days of Raya. The rest of Raya will be spent with me studying my ass off for my exam which kicks off next week. Wish me luck! Now, I wanna hear all your Raya gatherings... sapa masi hancing kana bagi angpau? hehe

Lawyer

A very successful lawyer parked his brand-new Lexus in front of his office, ready to show it off to his colleagues. As he got out, a truck passed too close and completely tore the door off of the driver's side. The counselor immediately grabbed his cell phone, dialed 911, and within minutes a policeman pulled up.
Before the officer had a chance to ask any questions, the lawyer started screaming hysterically. His Lexus, which he had just picked up the day before, was now completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter what the body shop did to it.

When the lawyer finally wound down from his ranting and raving, the officer shook his head in disgust and disbelief.

"I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said. "You are so focused on your possessions that you don't notice anything else."

"How can you say such a thing?" asked the lawyer.

The cop replied, "Don't you know that your left arm is missing from the elbow down? It must have been torn off when the truck hit you."

"Ahhh!" screamed the lawyer. "Where's my Rolex!"

Sea World

I had an awesome week!!

On Wednesday, I met up with Aka, Rina, Isz, Hjh and a new Bruneian student and her family at Harbour Town. None of us (Aka, Rina, Isz, Hjh and I) bought a thing but we had a good time, releasing our inner cam whoreness =P

Then on Thursday, Isz and I went to Surfers Paradise looking for discounted Sea World tickets. We went from one booth to the other but the cheapest one is $59 (Still eek.. as the RRP is $62). Mun ganya $3.. skadar jua tu! My bus ticket ke Surfers saja $2.60. So that means if I bought the so called discounted ticket, it is only 40 cents cheaper than the RRP. We couldnt be bothered to buy the tickets but since we were already in Surfers paying $2.60 for the bus, we didnt wanna go home empty handed. So we went to Woolies to buy some stuff. After we've paid for them, Isz went through his receipt... and surprise surprise, he got a Sea World Voucher: 50% off the admission ticket price. We were so excited, it felt like winning lottery. Berkat puasa =)

Then on Saturday, Isz, Aka, Rina and I went to Sea World. We bought our 50% off tickets ($31 instead of $62) at the ticket counter but were told to wait for a few minutes as they ran out of ticket papers to print. After about 5 minutes, the counter girl gave us our tickets plus an extra one for free just because we had to wait. But since we all had already paid for our tickets, the extra one was useless to us so we gave it for free to a family with a gazillion kids.

Sea World was everything I had expected. Love it, love it, love it! I prefer it to Dream World, mainly cos I dont like scary rides. Anyway, we got to see the sea lions, penguins, dolphins, polar bears, stingrays, dugongs, Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Tom and Jerry. Of all the animals, I like dolphins the most! I want one!!!!!!!!

Okies, pics time. Since I got hundreds of pictures, I've put them all up in my photobucket.

2 interesting questions

Question 1:
If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis; would you recommend that she have an abortion?
Read the next question before reading the answer for this one.

Question 2:
It is time to elect a new world leader, and your vote counts. Here are facts about the three leading candidates:
Candidate A - Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologists. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.
Candidate B - He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whisky every evening.
Candidate C - He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and hasn't had any extramarital affairs.
Which of these candidates would be your choice?

NO PEEKING.. SCROLL DOWN.

Candidate A is Franklin D.Roosevelt

Candidate B is Winston Churchill

Candidate C is Adolph Hitler

And by the way...

Answer to the abortion question -- if you said yes, you just killed Beethoven.

Staminade

I didnt feel like sahur this morning. My phone alarm woke me up at 3 am and I snoozed it. Why I didnt just turn it off? I dont know. My brain was still sleeping.I kept snoozing it and snoozing it until I was annoyed. So I got up, drank Staminade and went back to sleep. Why I drank Staminade? I dont know either. I must have thought it would give me enough energy and help me get through fasting today. But anyhow, I had the best sleep last night for the first time since last month. I did wake up a few times but when I finally woke up, I didnt feel like shit. I actually felt good, like, more energized. I suppose I owe it to Staminade =)

American vs Canadian

An American is having breakfast one morning; coffee, croissants, bread, butter & jam when a Canadian man, chewing gum, sits down next to him. The American ignores the Canadian who, nevertheless, starts a conversation:

Canadian: "You American folk eat the whole bread??"

American (in a bad mood): "Of course."

Canadian: (after blowing a huge bubble) "We don't. In Canada, we only eat what's inside. The crusts we collect in a container, recycle it, transform them into croissants and sell them to the states."

The Canadian has a smirk on his face. The American listens in silence. The Canadian persists:"Do you eat jelly with the bread??"

American: "Of Course."

Canadian: (cracking his gum between his teeth and chuckling). "We don't. In Canada we eat fresh fruit for breakfast, then we put all the peels, seeds, and leftovers in containers, recycle them, transform them into jam and sell the jam to the states."

The American then asks: "Do you have sex in Canada?"

Canadian: "Why of course we do", the Canadian says with a big smirk.

American: And what do you do with the condoms once you've used them?"

Canadian: "We throw them away, of course."

American: "We don't. In America, we put them in a container, recycle them, melt them down into chewing gum and sell them to canada"
